Grappling Industries DMV

This past weekend I competed in my first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition through Grappling Industries in Rockville, MD. It was a great experience in which I obtained many objectives to build on to continue my career in BJJ. Firstly, and most importantly, endurance. Going into the weekend I was fairly confident in my ability to go back-to-back in matches from rigorous training sessions in the JMU gym, however, competition stamina is unrivaled. After the first match I was breathing heavily, and it lasted less than a minute to obtain a submission. It goes without saying how I felt after the group stage, in which I was placed in the semifinals where I was handed my first and only loss. Another learning point I gained was the opportunity in the stand-up game. Taking advantage of takedown points (2pts) and staying aggressive on the feet is something I will look to improve greatly in training. Overall, I am content with my performance, finishing bronze with a record of 5-1 and 4 triangle submissions. Go check out highlights on Youtube @NoahWalshMedia
